Kent Henry brief bio:
Kent Henry is a veteran worship leader since the days of the Jesus Movement and the subsequent birth of the contemporary Christian worship movement in St. Louis Missouri during the mid-1970s. Always filled with exuberance and a jazz-like improvisation in worship, Kent is best known for leading worship on six of Integrity’s Hosanna! Music recordings.
Remaining fresh and contemporary, older folk will remember his live albums on the then-emerging Integrity Music label produced by Tom Brooks, with Kent’s gold album, All Hail King Jesus (1985) becoming one of the largest selling albums in Integrity Music’s history. Other memorable albums include Glorify Thy Name (1986), In His Presence (1987) My Refuge (1989) and The Secret Place, (1993).
Where did Kent go? The answer is that he stayed put in St. Louis, Missouri, where he started a worship academy and with his wife Carla raised a family of worshippers who are now producing albums of their own. It’s been a long journey since Kent was leading worship with Ron Tucker at the Saturday night youth meetings at New Covenant Fellowship in Maryland Heights Missouri in the mid-1970s, but largely away from the limelight and the all-too-often corrupting pressure of the mainstream contemporary Christian music scene, Kent has remained faithful to his roots in Jesus. Recently, having been given a disused church building, he is currently live-steaming a weekly uninterrupted hour of praise, prophetic worship and prayer.
